Make Your Mission Move
Marketing and communications that move mission-driven work forward.
Five services, built to work together. Most organizations start with a plan and build from there — but you can enter anywhere. What matters is that each stage produces something your community, your partners, and your funders can actually use.
01 — Plan the work
Strategic Marketing & Communications Plans
Strategic approaches that center your organization’s purpose and create meaningful connections with your audience.
Before a single graphic gets designed, we get clear on what you’re actually trying to change — and who has to move for that to happen. You get a roadmap with defined goals, mapped audiences, the right channels, and outcomes you can measure and report.
- Communications strategy tied to mission outcomes
- Audience research and segmentation
- Channel strategy and editorial planning
- Measurement framework and reporting cadence
- Crisis communications and rapid response planning
- Fractional communications director retainer support
In practice — Home Grown’s FFN Appreciation Week began as a strategy: identify an invisible constituency, find the partners who could reach them, and build a national moment around them. Six years on, it engages 50+ partner organizations a year and has mobilized outreach to 392 public officials.

02 — Tell the story
Storytelling & Narrative Development
Messaging that tells your audience who you are and why they should care — in language that honors the people you serve.
Most organizations have a mission statement and a pile of data. Neither is a story. We build the narrative that connects the two: a message architecture your whole team can use, and a voice that sounds like you instead of like every other nonprofit. This includes research translation — turning dense reports into something a person will actually read to the end.
- Brand voice and messaging framework
- Message architecture for different audiences
- Research translation — reports, fact sheets, one-pagers
- Impact reports and funder-facing narrative
- Landing pages and partner toolkits

03 — Make it visible
Content Strategy & Creative Assets
Comprehensive content planning and creative oversight that tells your story with intention and impact.
Flyers, posters, graphics, videos, photos, newsletters — the assets that stop the scroll and start the conversation. Not one-offs, but a system: content built to run, in the channels where your people already are, at a cadence you can sustain.
- Content strategy and editorial calendar
- Campaign assets — flyers, posters, graphics
- Video and photography
- Social media content series
- Email newsletters people actually open
In practice — Video for Home Grown. Social media for NoMi CIB, Community Foundation, and Community Greening. Newsletters for Spady Museum — sustaining a 41% open rate and 4.5% click-through, well above the nonprofit average.

04 — Connect with your community
Cultural & Cause Campaigns
Campaigns that resonate authentically with diverse communities while advancing social impact goals.
A campaign is not a content calendar. It’s a moment — built with a community rather than broadcast at one. We concept it, name it, build the identity, produce the assets, arm your partners with toolkits, and measure whether it actually moved anything.
- Campaign concept, naming, and identity
- Awareness weeks, days, and cultural moment activations
- Advocacy and policy campaigns
- Community storytelling and content capture
- Partner and community toolkits
- Earned media and campaign impact reporting
In practice — I founded Family, Friend & Neighbor Appreciation Week, a national campaign honoring the caregivers most often left out of the child care conversation. 50+ partner organizations. 392 public officials. Running since 2020.

05 — Build the capacity
Equitable Marketing Training
Education and training to ensure your team can create inclusive, culturally responsive content.
Marketing in this sector can extract from the very communities it claims to serve. This is the work of doing the opposite — and of making sure it doesn’t depend on me forever. Hands-on training that leaves your team able to do this without an outside consultant on retainer.
- Inclusive and anti-extractive messaging workshops
- Cultural competency for marketing teams
- Audience-first storytelling practice
- Multilingual and accessible communications
- Team coaching and playbooks
