I’m Venette (Vee).
I’m a marketing strategist with 14 years of experience in mission-based marketing. My work lives at the intersection of strategy and storytelling — making sure the stories of communities are told through a diverse, multicultural lens, and that they stay authentic, community-centered, and rooted in real human connection.
I build strategic marketing and communications campaigns that advocate for women’s rights, maternal health and reproductive justice, education reform, and racial and gender equity. I’ve served as a fractional communications lead for nonprofits and advocacy organizations, translating dense research into content people actually want to read, and building the kind of narrative that moves funders, partners, and policymakers alike.
I care about how the work gets made, not just what it produces. Marketing in this sector can extract from the very communities it claims to serve. I build campaigns — and train teams — to do the opposite.

The FFN Story
I didn’t just run the campaign. I built it.
In 2020, I founded Family, Friend, and Neighbor Appreciation Week — a nationwide communications campaign honoring the caregivers who look after children in their own communities, and who are almost always left out of the child care conversation.
Four years later, it engages 50+ partner organizations annually and has mobilized outreach to 392 public officials to advance policy support for FFN caregivers.

Changing the Narrative Around Family, Friend & Neighbor Care
A national week-long campaign that made America’s largest — and most invisible — child care workforce visible to the public, the field, and policymakers.
